Perhaps there is some hope for Tripp Johnston after all

Recently Tripp got student of the week at his elementary school.  Good for him.

I also like how Sunny blacked out the name of his school.  She cares about his privacy, unlike Bristol.

And what is up with the Johnston-Palin thing?  Did Levi and Bristol have to agree to that?

  1. I am very happy that Tripp seems to be spending more time with Levi, Sunny and his sisters. It will be so good for him to be around a normal family. Student of the week, however, is usually passed around a classroom and sometimes used as a motivator if needed. If the school is using Johnston-Palin is most likely is his "legal" name or a version the parents have agreed to. Lots of kids use hyphenated names now so I don't think it unusual but certainly better than just "Palin" as Bristol has used in the past.

  2. Tripp is doing an awesome job. He is adorable but he may have to move over soon. The cutest badass is the one in the middle.

  3. They are cute kids, but those kids are way too young to be dealing with guns- even "unloaded" guns. Pay attention to how often you read about somebody who was accidentally shot with a gun they thought was unloaded.

And no, I don't live in a constant state of anxiety about things I don't understand. Clearly I understand more about standard gun safety than the parents do. A gun is not a toy and they are always assumed to be loaded...even if you've just checked it.

    1. I don't like the family posed gun pictures. Most of the kids posing look twisted. It is a popular trendy thing to do but a stupid one, imho. I admit I did find of picture of when I was a child. I was shooting something outdoors and I had a rifle. It was taken from a distance and the background was the best part of the picture. I think we were target practicing with tin cans. I was shocked to see me with a gun at all. Yes, I liked to target practice as a kid. Never liked to hunt and never had a gun as an adult. It was a different culture and I cannot imagine a family from that time posing all the kiddies with guns, Not that it didn't happen, just not something I would have known.

    2. I think they're too young, too.

But Levi Johnston comes from a long line of professional hunters, as he is. People wonder where he got the money to pay the fancy lawyers for access to Tripp. Levi is a hunter. The whole family are hunters, i.e. they shoot meat (which nobody grows in Alaska) and they shoot hides to sell. The Johnstons have always been hunters. Levi's stepmother has a butcher shop where Sunny and Levi sometimes work butchering moose. These people aren't like the Palins, just waving guns around, and they're not recreational hunters- this is who they are.

    3. So 'hunters' never have gun accidents? Exposing those kids to guns is tantamount to telling them guns are safe and fun. Baloney. We have 'accidental' shootings of and by children every day in the nation-all those gun owners would swear they are responsible and the gun was 'unloaded.' Right. One of these kids will get shot. Track drinks and waves guns around. Levi has to clean his. MOH has to have a loaded gun in every room of his home and every pocket to feel 'safe.' The Palin clan and anyone associated with them are stupid if they think children and guns belong in the same photo, let alone in the same home. Someone will get shot.

    4. Real hunters use guns safely. You rarely hear of a real, serious hunter leaving a loaded firearm lying around, or "accidentally" shooting someone while playing with, showing off, or cleaning a weapon.

I'm an EMT with a volunteer rescue squad in a rural Virginia county where EVERYONE hunts and everyone has a pile of guns at home. Last week, an individual who moved here six months ago committed suicide by shooting himself in the head -- that's the first gunshot case we have had in six years.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the Johnston kids and guns.

    5. And not too far away from me.. close enough that the victims landed at the hospital I work at... A teenager who hunted with his dad and had been given a gun because he was "used to guns" and "Had been taught gun safety.." took his gun to school and shot five people and then himself, killing himself and four others.

You might be able to say, "the odds are against an accident" but kids make immature decisions because they are immature. There might be an accident; there might be a deliberate shooting; but the potential consequences are far too high for me to condone kids and guns. Under supervision, maybe. But using them as props for a picture and clearly thinking this is adorable? No, that's not okay.

  4. I have no clue what is going on with the name game. I know where I am, if you want to change a child's name you must go to court and follow legal protocol. Even if Levi has agreed to the Johnston-Palin moniker, it may not be legal. Not really a crime and if no one cares about Tripp with that situation so be it. It is Alaska. Sarah can probably tell the school to use the name Tripp Palin-Hitler and it would be cool. Tomorrow is April 20 birthdays. Track and Adolf, it would be a good day to make the announcement.

  5. If I were responsible for Tripp, I'd drop the name of Palin ASAP. It's going to be very detrimental to him as he grows up. Just wait until he finds out about the true stories of Sarah, Todd, Track and Bristol. The adults are going to have hell to pay for all the nastiness they will have brought upon him! He will be bullied along with other things!

  6. I'm very old and damn near blind-but his certificate says "Student of the Month". Even better!

  7. Has Bristol EVER posted on her Instagram page of photo of Tripp showing that he accomplished something? All the Tripp photos she has published that I've seen show him making cross-eyes, flashing gang signs, or making fish lips.

Of course, Levi and Sunny are adults.

  8. Speaking of Barstool: She's openly, flagrantly pimping "weight-loss shakes" on her Instagram page.

The company pays her for every hit her page gets or something like that. She's desperate for money now that the SarahPAC gravy train is running on empty.

  9. Bristol and her family hate Levi's guts and refuse to utter his last name, last year Willow wished Tripp Easton happy birthday without mentioning Johnston as if the boy's father was a scumbag. Once Tripp gets older he'll drop the Palin for good.
